The Long John Silver's Meal, First Aid Course and Gathering

16/08/08
- On Saturday, I had to wake up super early again on a weekend to attend the Standard First Aid Course. As much as I hate to forgo my beauty sleep over the weekend, I still have to drag myself up to attend the class. It was interesting to see new classmates from all walks of life besides your classmates, attending this life-saving course. We learnt various kinds of bandages and why we ought to save lives. In order to graduate from the course, it is compulsory for everyone to attend two classes before taking the practical test on the third day. There goes my weekend.

During our lunch break, we headed to Long John Silver's. There was an ongoing promotion called WRAP-VOLUTION! and I thought to myself, perhaps, I should try this meal. So I ordered the Mango Fish Wrap which comes with fries and drinks (S$4.80).

Inside the pita bread wrap was two pieces of fish fillet, smeared with mango sauce, lettuce and diced tomates.

I like the fries as well because of the way they battered the fries.

When the first lesson of my first aid class ended, I met up with my old classmates for dinner at Spageddies@Paragon. Since it was a weekend, I made a reservation just in case all the tables are being snapped up like hotcakes. But when my friend, Maryann and I went to the place at 7pm, it was half-empty. I surmised the customers will start queuing outside the restaurant after 8pm.

After studying the menu, I ordered Chicken Cannelloni (S$14). Originally, I wanted to order wood-fires pizza but I was afraid that I couldn't finish the portion. The Chicken Cannelloni was not too bad. It came in two large Cannelloni shell and inside the shell, it was stuffed with chicken, spinach, and onions. On the top of the Cannelloni shell was alfredo sauce and mozzarella cheese. Among the cheese family, I love the mozzarella cheese, especially the buffalo mozzarella cheese.

Here is another angle of the Chicken Cannelloni.

When we finished our main meal, Jo thought of eating dessert at Canele Patisserie Chocolaterie. But before that, we went for a walk to ease our filled stomachs. We went shopping for a while and also do some sight-seeing. At around 9 plus, we headed to the newly-opened Shaw Centre outlet. Unfortunately, it was so packed when we went that we were the six customers on the waiting list! Even after we went for a short window shopping, we still didn't manage to get a table. Well, we could only blame ourselves for not reserving a table earlier. In the end, we had our cakes takeway and ate it at the nearby McCafe.

I had my usual Raspberry and Hazelnut macaroons (S$2.30 ea). They were heavenly!

J2 had Jupiter cake ($7). When I first tasted it, it had a mixture of bitter chocolates and sour filling. So when I had a small bite, it was weird.

Despite the insane price the cakes at Canele, the quality of it remains the consistently - good.
